Hi Friends! We are beyond excited for baby #2 to join our family in October! The love we have felt from our family, friends and you guys is the best. I’m now in my second trimester so I thought I would do a little first trimester recap! I also asked you guys if there was anything you wanted to know on Instagram and I’ll answer those questions as well. We prayed for this baby and feel so blessed that our prayers were answered! Can’t wait until we get to meet our next little babe!
How did I find out I was pregnant / How did I tell Mason?
I actually found out SUPER early that I was pregnant. I was only a little over 3 weeks, when I just suddenly had this feeling. It was the STRANGEST thing ever, I remember it so vividly, Mason was out of town for work and on Monday, I just had a feeling that I was pregnant. I had been tracking my cycle and knew I was supposed to start my period on Thursday, so I didn’t want to get my hopes up and decided to not take a test yet. It was still so early so even if I was pregnant, I could get a negative test so I decided to just wait. Then the following day, I couldn’t stand it anymore, I still just had that feeling that I was pregnant, I didn’t have any symptoms but I just felt it in my heart (so weird, I know)! So I took a test, I had a bunch of them because I ordered this set of ovulation and pregnancy tests on Amazon. I then waited the longest 5 minutes of my life, and the test came back positive!! It was a fairly faint line but it was definitely a positive. I was SUPER excited but still didn’t want to get my hopes up, just in case something wasn’t right with the test. I was a little skeptical of my Amazon pregnancy test LOL So I waited another day, took another test and a darker line appeared, at this point I decided that I wanted to go get a test from CVS to just confirm. So I went to CVS and bought THREE different types of test, dramatic, I know. I took one that same day and it obviously came back positive and I was so excited!!! Mason was still out of town but was coming home that night! I hadn’t told him about any of this yet, I wanted to surprise him on Valentine’s Day which was the next day. So I had to keep it a secret from him, which was SO HARD!!!! Especially since he was home now, but I thought it would be sweet to tell him on Valentine’s Day. So on Valentine’s Day, I took yet another test (you know for good measure) and decided to hide it in his Valentine’s present. So I hide the test at the very bottom of the bag with his gift, he opened the gift and then I was like there’s something else at the bottom!!!!! When he found it, it was just the best feeling! We were both so excited and I actually secretly recorded this!! I’ll have to share because it’s so cute! I love that I got to surprise him and it was the sweetest.
How many weeks am I?
I’m currently 15 weeks!
How did we know we were ready for baby number 2?
You never really know if you’re ready honestly! If you’re waiting for the “perfect” time to have a baby, it’s never going to come. Mason and I always knew we wanted our babies to be close in age. We had always said we wanted them to be around 2 years apart. Mason would have been ready to have another baby when Hunter was like 6 months old, not even kidding lol. I however, was not ready to put my body through that again quite yet. Right around the time before Hunter’s first birthday, we decided it was really time for us to start trying for baby number 2! I know it will be crazy having two under two but we are so excited.
How long did it take to get pregnant the second time vs. the first time?
When we were trying to get pregnant the first time, we just tried naturally, I didn’t track my period or use any ovulation tests and it took us 6 months to conceive. Which felt like forever to me, but I know how truly blessed we are for it to have only take 6 months. This time around, I wasn’t as patient, so I decided to start tracking my period at the very end of November, which is actually the first time I got my period since getting pregnant with Hunter. I was just using the app, Flo, to track. Just using the app wasn’t cutting it for me, so like I mentioned, I bought the ovulation test kit on Amazon. The app predicts when it thinks you’ll most likely be ovulating, so like 5 days before that, I started taking ovulation tests. The app was actually wrong when it thought I was ovulating, but the test confirmed the actual date. So I think a combination os using both was SO helpful! I can’t recommend the ovulation tests enough!!! It’s hard to say exactly how long it took, but I think it was like 2 months ish, really a little less, to get pregnant the second time!
How old is Hunter / How far apart will they be?
Hunter is currently 15 months! So if Baby comes close to the due date, they will be right around 20/21 months apart! Two under two… wish us luck!!
Any symptoms?
YES. The morning sickness is horrible, just like it was with Hunter. And it’s not even morning sickness, it’s ALL DAY sickness. I don’t actually ever throw up, just so so nauseous. But I did get on Diclegis again, I was on the same medication with Hunter, and it helps tremendously. I’m also just super tired all the time. I wish I could sleep all day!
How is it being pregnant and having a toddler running around?
To be honest, it’s hard. I’m so thankful that Mason picks up my slack on days when I’m really struggling. It’s hard because when I was pregnant with Hunter, if I was exhausted, I would just sleep all day. This time around, I really can’t do that. I do take naps when I can squeeze them in!
Has Hunter been curious about my bump?
NOPE! She’s clueless and has no idea what’s coming haha
When did my bump pop this time?
It definitely has its day.. sometimes it’s barely there and other days, I’m full on bumpin!! It’s also a lot larger at the end of the day. But I would say around week 10-11, it really started to bump out, and my pants started to get real tight. This is WAY earlier than I started showing with Hunter.
How did I hide my bump before announcing?
It’s all about what you wear and the angles in which you take pictures! Looser clothes were my friend, like tshirt dresses and looser tops.
Are we finding out the gender?
You guys!!! This was the most asked question BY FAR!!! So many variations of this question lol YES! We are finding out the gender, I could not wait! AND we actually already know the gender 😏I had some genetic screening done, as I did with Hunter as well. I was able to take the test at 10 weeks and we found out the gender at 11 weeks! We will be sharing SUPER soon, just need to take some pics! Mason actually surprised me with the gender like I did with Hunter for him. They emailed me that my test results were ready so he logged in and checked and surprised me with clothes for baby! I loved it!
Do we have any name ideas / will we be sharing the name?
This one is pretty funny. So I actually have a list on my phone of names and it’s A LOT! lol so we are set on names, we knew what we would name the baby if it was girl or if it was a boy! So yes we know the name!!!! and we will be sharing! I think it’s silly to wait until baby is born to share, so I won’t make y’all wait too long!
What is my workout routine / diet while pregnant?
I’m probably the worst person ever to ask this!! I didn’t ever try to limit my diet when I was pregnant with Hunter and I’m doing the same this time around. Granted, I don’t go crazy and eat like 5 burgers just because I’m craving them and am pregnant. I obviously eat more while I’m pregnant but I just don’t go crazy! I recommend, not using your pregnancy as an excuse to eat like a crazy person and you’ll be fine. It all balances out for me really, somedays I can barely eat because I’m either so nauseous or just can’t eat and other days I eat A LOT. I was really just so tired and nauseous my whole first trimester, that I haven’t been very active. I really tried to walk everyday with Hunter, and that started to pick up in the second trimester so I’ll be doing that again. I’m not going to start any crazy workout routine, because I wouldn’t normally do that. You know what you can handle, so stick to that!
Are we done after baby number 2?
God willing, no! We feel so thankful that we’ve been blessed with two babies but we want a big family!
Thank you guys for all the love and we are just so so excited!! Can’t wait to share every step of the way with y’all and especially can’t wait until October!!!
